What is a Rift
In AION 2, each faction has its own map: Elyos live in Verteron and Eltnen, Asmodians in Altgard and Morheim. You can reach the enemy only through a Spacetime Rift — called a Rift for short. This portal appears on your map on a schedule and takes you to the other faction's map.
In the original AION, Rifts were about open-world PvP. AION 2 has a PvP/PvE toggle: most players stay in PvE mode, so a Rift is now mainly PvE content for progression. It is also very rewarding: just like your own map, the enemy map has Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, and their rewards go to you.

When and where it opens
- Every 3 hoursRifts open roughly once every 3 hours, at the start of the hour — eight times a day. The message “A Spacetime Rift has appeared.” appears in the center of the screen.
- Look for the map iconOpen the map and zoom in: the Rift is marked with a purple icon. There may be several portals — choose the nearest one.
- 10 minutes to enterThe portal stays open for 10 minutes, and it has a limited number of slots. Fly there right away — teleport to the nearest point, then fly the rest of the way.
- EnteringIn the world, a Rift looks like a large glowing vortex. Approach and interact with it to travel to the enemy map.
What to bring

Before entering the Rift
- Resurrection Spiritstones — bring several. This is essential: without them, any death outside a dungeon ends your visit;
- time in the Rift — the 1 hour is restored automatically. To stay longer, bring a Spacetime Rift Ticket (Bound) (+30 min.) or a Spacetime Rift Duration Ticket (Bound) (+10 min.);
- PvE mode — check the toggle before entering: you cannot change modes in combat, and after switching you must wait for the cooldown;
- flight — so you can travel through the air instead of on foot;
- route — check the map in advance to see where the enemy's Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds are.
Time in the Rift
You get 1 hour when you enter — it is a separate timer called “Spacetime Rift Usage Time” in the upper-right corner. The timer keeps running even if you die. When it runs out, you are returned to your own map.
If your time is at zero, you cannot enter — the game will say you have no ticket. You will need a ticket or a duration ticket from the list above.
What to do on the enemy map
Order of activities
- 1. Sealed DungeonsThe main objective. In Global, each gives 2.5k Enhance Stones, 15k Kinah, and 1.5k Abyss Points. This is the best source of Enhance Stones without Aether Energy. Each dungeon gives rewards once.
- 2. StrongholdsThey give only Abyss Points (3k) and Kinah (1.5k), so you can leave them for later.
- 3. QuestsThe enemy map has its own quests — pick up the ones along your route.
- 4. ExplorationThere are hidden cubes on the enemy map too. But you cannot collect feathers for the Monolith there.
| Location | Reward (Global) |
|---|---|
| Sealed Dungeon | 2.5k Enhance Stones, 15k Kinah, 1.5k Abyss Points |
| Stronghold | 3k Abyss Points, 1.5k Kinah |
You cannot clear the entire enemy map in one visit: Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and quests take 4–6 hours. Plan several visits and start with the dungeons closest to the Rift.
How to avoid getting sent home early
- Travel only by airFly and glide. Do not walk or use auto-pathing: the route can easily take you past guards.
- Death in the open worldIf you revive at a resurrection point, you will be returned to your own map, and you will have to wait 3 hours for the next Rift. So revive on the spot with a Resurrection Spiritstone.
- Death in a dungeonDying inside a Sealed Dungeon is fine: you can revive there and continue.
- Do not attack enemy NPCsAttacking a hostile NPC or player enables forced PvP, and you can no longer change modes.
- PartyIf anyone in your party or alliance is in PvP mode, you will be switched to PvP too. Go with players who are in PvE.
- Killed by a playerIf another player kills you, you cannot revive on your own.
How to get home
The easiest way is to wait for the timer to run out. If you need to leave sooner, die and revive at a resurrection point: this takes you back to your own map. Sometimes there is also a return portal on the enemy map.
Rifts and PvP
PvP in a Rift is optional. PvP mode unlocks at level 45; you can switch to it outside combat, but not too often. In PvP mode, enemy players in the same mode can attack you, and you can attack them too. Once the enemy map is cleared, the Rift remains a place for PvP for those looking for it. For more about the modes, see the “AION 2 PvP and alts: modes, legions and extra characters” guide.
- Going without Resurrection SpiritstonesOne death to a guard and you are home for 3 hours.
- Using auto-pathing on the enemy mapYour character runs past guards and dies.
- Attacking guardsAttacking an enemy NPC enables forced PvP.
- Starting with StrongholdsSealed Dungeons give Enhance Stones — do those first.
- Flying across the whole map to reach the RiftThe portal closes after 10 minutes; unlock teleport points in advance.
The main points
A Rift opens every 3 hours from level 45 and gives you an hour on the enemy map. Bring Resurrection Spiritstones, stay in PvE mode, fly, and avoid the guards. Start with Sealed Dungeons — each gives 2.5k Enhance Stones.
