What GS is and why 1400
Item Level (called GS, or gear score, by the community) is the number in the character window, based on each equipped item's level, enhancement, Mana Stones and Daevanion points. Group leaders use it to decide whether to take you into a dungeon. The window also shows Combat Power, which Stigmas raise as well. Groups look at that too; more on it below.
At level 45 a character usually has about 1000–1100. The 1400 mark matters because it makes groups for 2★ Conquest realistic. That is where Odyle Energy gets you equipment that raises your GS instead of gear you dismantle a couple of days later.

Why you should save energy early on
Odyle Energy is your main limited resource. Opening one reward cube in an expedition costs 40 energy, and in early dungeons it is almost always wasted.
Three levelling traps
Here is an example for one Global player:
| Spend 190 energy on | What you get |
|---|---|
| Lower dungeons, before guaranteed rewards | About 630K Kinah in items you will soon replace |
| 2★ Conquest (about 4.75 cubes) | About 1.44M Kinah, a chance at Item Level 70 gear, materials and wings |
That is more than twice the value, before counting items that actually raise GS. So the plan below gets you to 1400 without energy.
Step 1. After level 45: clear all the side content
At level 45 your Ascension gauge will be about 60–70% full. The story will not continue until it reaches 100%. Map activities fill it; the community calls them “horizontal progression”.
| Activity | Map marker | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed Dungeons | Question mark | Daevanion and skill points, equipment |
| Strongholds | Campfire icon | Belt enhancement scrolls, Kinah, Abyss Points |
| Region quests | Green marker | Most accessories, Daevanion and skill points |
| Monolith feathers | Scattered across the map | Monolith levels and amulet enhancement scrolls |
Clear each region until its map is empty. This is the foundation for 1400: Daevanion from these activities alone adds about 300 GS.
While clearing the map
- Spend Daevanion points right away: 1 point = +1 Item Level
- Unlock every teleport point; you will need them for Rifts
- Salvage unwanted items into enhancement stones instead of selling them to a merchant
- Check your quest journal: new green quests unlock after each story chapter
Step 2. What to enhance and what to leave alone
After the level-45 main story you receive a level-45 weapon. You can enhance it to +10, or at least +5 if Kinah is tight.
Items that stay with you for a long time
Ascension unlocks the last story quest. It rewards level-45 bracers. Enhance them to +5: Vakron Bracers from Vakron Sky Island will replace them. Go higher only if you are short by a few GS points.
Step 3. Upgrade the belt and amulet to Unique

You only get one belt and one amulet for the whole game, with no replacements. You can safely invest in them:
- Enhance to +10Use Stronghold scrolls on the green (Rare) belt. Use Monolith level scrolls on the amulet.
- Unequip and morphOpen Substance Morph. A +10 item becomes the next rank: blue (Legendary).
- RepeatEnhance the blue item to +10 and use Substance Morph again. It becomes yellow (Unique), Item Level 65.
- Stop thereEnhancing a Unique belt or amulet further is too expensive for now. Return to them later.
Step 4. Monolith: how many feathers you need
Feathers (called “Empyrean Lord's Traces” in game) are turned in at the Monolith in your region. A Monolith has a 30-level cap, and about one third of all map feathers is enough to reach it. Extra feathers can only be exchanged, so there is no need to hunt every one for levels.
Step 5. Rifts: resources from enemy territory
Some side quests send you through a Continuum Rift, a portal to the opposing faction's map. Rifts open on a schedule several times a day and have a special map marker. You have about 10 minutes to enter and can stay inside for up to an hour. Step by step: AION 2 Rifts guide.
While there, clear enemy Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds. Global rewards differ from the Korean version:
| Rift activity | Reward |
|---|---|
| Sealed Dungeon | 15K Kinah, 1.5K Abyss Points, 2.5K enhancement stones (no Daevanion points) |
| Stronghold | 1.5K Kinah, 3K Abyss Points |
Enhancement stones are always in short supply while levelling, and Abyss Points buy Stigma Shards. Rifts are optional, but the best energy-free source of stones.
Step 6. The Abyss: feathers and bracers
Once the map is clear and your Item Level is above about 1000, head to the Abyss: a quest and a map portal lead there. The earlier you go, the fewer players you will encounter — it is a PvP zone.
What to do in the Abyss
- Bracer questThe Abyss quest rewards Legendary bracers. A nearby merchant sells weekly Command Scrolls — buy and complete them all.
- All Abyss feathersThere are about 200. The Abyss Monolith reaches level 16 and gives 36 Daevanion points, or +36 Item Level.
- Spend Abyss Points on Stigma ShardsThey raise Combat Power, not GS. Groups check that too, and may reject low Combat Power even with good GS.
After collecting Abyss feathers, you should have about 316 Daevanion points. Check for anything you missed with our Daevanion calculator.
Step 7. The last 50–100: enhancement and Mana Stones
After the steps above, players usually reach 1300–1340. Make up the rest with enhancement and Mana Stones, still without energy.
| Upgrade | Item Level gained |
|---|---|
| Each +1 enhancement | +1 |
| Grey Mana Stone line | +1 |
| Green Mana Stone line | +2 |
| Blue Mana Stone line | +3 |
| Daevanion point | +1 |
How to fill the gap
- Enhance evenlyRaising every item by +1–2 is better value than taking one item to +5: each extra level costs more.
- Basic Mana Stones in blue gearIt will soon be replaced. Put basic stones here and aim for at least one green line.
- Intermediate Mana Stones in yellow gearYour bracelet, belt, amulet and weapon last longer. Use intermediate stones and aim for two blue lines.
- Save your best stonesKeep high-quality Mana Stones for your final gear.
For enhancement and Mana Stone odds, see How to upgrade equipment.
If you are short by a few points
There are ways to pick up the last points without risking materials on rerolls:
- Daevanion Crystals are sold in the Shugo Festival and Nightmare shops. Each gives one Daevanion point, or +1.
- Reroll Mana Stones if you are willing to risk Kinah for green and blue lines.
- One Vakron item — trousers from Vakron Sky Island, for example, give about +30 right away.
What a 1400 character looks like
For reference, one player reached 1400 in all quest gear (Pilgrim gear from the story), with armour at about +8/+9, intermediate Mana Stones and full Daevanion. The only dungeon item was Vakron trousers. In other words, 1400 takes a thoroughly cleared map, not luck.
Do
- Clear the whole map: green quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds
- Upgrade the belt and amulet to Unique with Substance Morph
- Enhance the Ascension Bracelet and weapon to +10
- Collect Abyss feathers: a free +36
- Use Rifts to get enhancement stones
Don't
- Open cubes for Exploration quests
- Spend energy on guaranteed rewards in low-level dungeons
- Enhance armour past +3–5
- Put high-quality Mana Stones in temporary gear
- Spend Abyss Points on anything but Stigma Shards
- “I'll spend energy to get there faster”Before 1400, energy gives half the value it does in 2★ Conquest.
- Missing green questsEach gives Daevanion points and accessories. Check the map again.
- A +10 temporary helmetIt will be replaced next week, and enhancement stones are not returned.
- “I'll do the belt and amulet later”They are your safest investments and never need replacing.
- GS without StigmasGroups also check Combat Power. Buy Stigma Shards with Abyss Points.
Before 2★ Conquest
- All markers cleared on both maps for your faction
- Regional Monolith at level 30; Abyss Monolith at level 16
- About 316 Daevanion points allocated
- Ascension Bracelet and weapon +10; bracers +5
- Unique belt and amulet
- Armour evenly enhanced from +3 to +8, with Mana Stones in every item
- Abyss Points spent on Stigma Shards
The key point
You can reach 1400 Item Level without spending a single point of Odyle Energy: clear region quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds; collect Monolith feathers, including in the Abyss; upgrade your belt and amulet to Unique; then fill the gap with enhancement and Mana Stones. Save your energy for 2★ Conquest, where it is worth twice as much.
