Gather gems and earn Kinah with crafting

Author: dbaion2 team · October 4, 2026 · 14 min read

In 30 seconds

No Odyle EnergyGathering and crafting do not consume Odyle Energy. They provide income that does not depend on dungeons.
What to gatherGems: sapphire, ruby, and diamond. Jewelcrafters buy them in large quantities; prices can reach 2,000 Kinah or more each.
First point: Gem SeekerAfter learning it, gathering spots appear on the minimap.
Sell in the eveningMaterials are cheaper in the morning and can cost 2–3 times more in the evening. Buy in the morning and sell in the evening.
Do not use botsLong gathering sessions can trigger “Are you a bot?” checks. Failing one puts your account at risk.

Why gathering and crafting make money

In AION 2, the best long-term gear is gear you craft yourself. In the Korean version, crafted items do not need to be replaced: they can be transferred to the next tier through inheritance and kept improving with each update. That is why many players are already leveling crafting as a long-term investment.

Since everyone is leveling crafting, everyone needs materials. The cheapest way to raise Jewelcrafting is to mass-produce simple decorations. The level 1 recipe for a Sapphire Decoration requires 2 Sapphire Gemstones and an abrasive. Thousands of players make hundreds of these, which creates demand for gems.

Gems jewelcrafters buy

Prices vary by serverEvery AION 2 server has its own market. The figures in this guide are from one Global server during the first days after launch: gems sold for 1,900–2,000 Kinah each in the morning and noticeably more in the evening. Check your server's market before investing.

How gathering works

Four gem ranks: Normal, High Quality, Pure, and Radiant
Four gem ranks: Normal, High Quality, Pure, and Radiant

Each gathering spot has a small minigame. Interact with a spot to bring up a success bar and a failure bar. With each attempt, one of the bars grows at random. Fill the success bar to obtain the material. You can gather from one spot up to three times; its bar has three segments above it.

The rank of the material you receive is also random. Normal gemstones drop most often, while Pure and Radiant ones are rare and worth several times more. A Radiant gemstone can pay for an entire evening of gathering.

Gathering skills: what to choose

Gem gathering skills: specialization and general skills
Gem gathering skills: specialization and general skills

Gathering has its own skill tree with two kinds of points:

  • Gathering skill points — earned with each gathering mastery level. Spend them on general skills, each of which has 10 levels.
  • Specialization points — earned every 10 mastery levels (two points at levels 50, 80, 90, and 100). Spend them on skills for a specific material: gems, ore, wood, herbs, Odyle, or cooking.

You earn 14 specialization points by gathering mastery level 100. Gem skills take 7, enough to complete that branch and still invest in another one.

Specialization leveling order

  1. Gem SeekerTake this with your very first point. Without it, you have to find gathering spots by sight.
  2. Plentiful Harvest 1Double the material for a direct increase in income.
  3. Gem Appraiser 1A chance to turn a normal gemstone into a more valuable one.
  4. Professional rankThe remaining levels of both skills unlock only after you raise your gathering rank.

Gathering ranks: novice to professional

You start as a Novice Gatherer (mastery 1–50). When your mastery reaches 50, a regional quest to raise your rank becomes available. You need to gather and turn in a specific gem (ours was sapphire). After that, your rank becomes Professional: mastery can rise to 100 and the higher skill levels unlock.

Every successful gathering attempt gives mastery experience. Gather whatever you find along the way, even if you only need gems right now.

Crafting professions have a similar rank-up. While you are a novice, the cheapest way to raise mastery is to craft with basic level 1 materials: gather or buy the main material, and buy the secondary materials from a merchant. At mastery level 50, a regional rank-up quest becomes available. Complete it to become a professional and continue leveling the profession.

Where to find gems

Gems grow throughout the maps of the main regions. Our map marks every spot; the links below turn on the sapphire, ruby, and diamond layers:

Gather faster

  • Learn Gem Seeker to show gathering spot icons on the minimap
  • In the minimap settings, show only gems to avoid clutter
  • Follow a loop between clusters of spots instead of visiting isolated ones
  • Gather Odyle along the way: every recipe needs it
  • Gather in channels with fewer players

Odyle: another popular material

Odyle can be gathered in the world and earned by completing dungeons. It is used in almost every crafting recipe, so it also sells well. You can also turn it into Odyle Energy: Substance Morph has a recipe that uses 25 Odyle, 5 High Quality Odyle, 1 Pure Odyle, and 50,000 Kinah.

Jewelcrafting: what to craft yourself

Jewelcrafting progression: from gemstone to Artisan's ring
Jewelcrafting progression: from gemstone to Artisan's ring

If you gather gems for yourself too, level Jewelcrafting. Start with Epic accessories: necklaces, earrings, and rings fill five gear slots. Leave weapons for later.

Each item follows a crafting chain: decoration → regular ring → Expert's ring → Artisan's ring. At each step, there is a 25% chance to get a “Splendent” version, which is one rank higher. For example, a Splendent Sapphire Artisan's Ring is already Unique.

How the chain ends

The full recipe list, success rates, and material calculator are in Crafting and recipes.

Calculating odds and costs

Before crafting, check the recipe window for both the chance to get a Splendent item and the overall crafting success rate. This depends on the difference between your mastery and the recipe requirement. If crafting fails, the materials are lost and no item is made; the more expensive the chain step, the more painful the loss. Raise your mastery in advance, and do not move on to an expensive blue or gold step until the interface shows a success rate you are comfortable with.

Each step in the chain has a 25% chance to produce the next quality tier. On average, budget about 64 normal, 16 green, and 4 blue base items for one gold item. This is an average expectation, not a guarantee: you may get lucky earlier or later. Before buying, multiply the quantities by your server's current prices and account for the risk of failed crafts. Pay particular attention to the blue step, whose materials often cost more than the others.

Failed attempts may still be usefulDo not discard gray, green, and blue items left over after failed quality upgrades. Check the current Supply Requests: if they accept the item, turning it in can return some of its value as materials or another reward. Requests and their rewards change, so compare the reward with the market price first.

Once you have crafted the desired high-quality item, check the client recipe for transferring it to the next tier. Based on player experience, this transfer does not fail; the client recipes show no separate transfer chance. Still, check the material cost and any warnings in the confirmation window: some of the investment in the item may not carry over.

Do not confuse quality chance with success rateThe 25% chance is for getting the next, higher-quality version when crafting succeeds. Separately, there is a chance that the craft itself succeeds at all. So the expected 64 → 16 → 4 → 1 is a quality progression estimate, not an exact attempt count that accounts for possible failures.
Do not overpay for base itemsThe market has ready-made crafter base items listed for huge prices. Their item level is low, and they still have to be upgraded through the chain with expensive materials. Calculate the full chain in our crafting calculator before buying.

Selling on the market

  1. Open the marketGo to the Sell tab. Double-click an item in your bag.
  2. Set quantity and priceEnter the quantity and unit price on the number pad. The total appears at the bottom.
  3. Account for fees and taxListing an item costs a registration fee, and a sale incurs about 10% tax. Include both in your price.

When to buy and sell

  1. Buy in the morningMaterials are cheapest early in the morning. If you are leveling a profession, stock up then.
  2. Sell in the eveningDuring evening prime time, gem prices can rise 2–3 times. List what you gathered then.
  3. Watch your server's marketEach server has its own market. Compare prices for several days before making a large investment.

Before selling a crafted item, compare its price not only with the materials but also with the cost of making it again at your mastery level. Include the listing fee and about 10% tax on a successful sale. Prices change quickly from server to server, so do not treat old prices as a profit guarantee.

Turning Kinah into Quna and getting energy without spending

If you have plenty of Kinah but need Quna (the premium currency for the shop and the Daevanion Pass), Substance Morph lets you create Kina Chests and sell them to other players for Quna.

Other ways to get Odyle Energy without spending money:

  • Subscription — you can claim extra energy in the special goods section.
  • Substance Morph — the Odyle energy recipe above.
  • Alts — each character accumulates its own energy. See How to earn Kinah for details.

An alt for Kinah: 1,200 in a day

An alt is the simplest way to earn even more Kinah, but it needs preparation: you need at least 1,200 Item Level for Conquest. This is possible in a day:

  1. Level 45Complete the story, all regional quests, and any sealed dungeons along the way; spend Daevanion points right away.
  2. About 1,000 and a braceletFinish the story: at around 1,000 Item Level, you receive the Epic Ascension Bracelet.
  3. Feathers and level 45 questsTurn in feathers at the Monolith to unlock level 45 regional quests with better gear.
  4. 1,200 → Conquest 1★Spend the alt's energy on Conquest. Kill every boss for about 200,000 more Kinah per run.
How to form a group quicklyCreate a room called “3 bosses” and require approval to join. Applications show each candidate's Item Level and Combat Power, and you can click to view their gear. If no one joins for a while, pin the room to move it to the top of the list.
  1. Using a gathering bot“Are you a bot?” checks are triggered by gathering in one place for a long time. Failing one puts your account at risk. See Auto-combat and bots for details.
  2. Selling in the morningYou will get the lowest prices of the day for your materials.
  3. Forgetting the feeThe listing fee and 10% tax eat into your margin if your price is too close to your costs.
  4. Buying expensive base itemsCalculate the entire chain; crafting them yourself is cheaper.
  5. Spending gathering points at randomStart with Gem Seeker, then Plentiful Harvest and Gem Appraiser.

Gatherer's checklist

  • Put your specialization point into Gem Seeker
  • Show only the spots you need on the minimap
  • Follow a route on our map with the gem layers enabled
  • Gather Odyle along the way
  • At mastery 50, complete the quest for Professional rank
  • Sell in the evening and buy in the morning
  • Do not use automation

The key points

Gathering gems is the easiest way to earn without Odyle Energy: learn Gem Seeker, level Plentiful Harvest and Gem Appraiser, gather sapphire, ruby, and diamond using our map, and sell to jewelcrafters in the evening. If you want to invest in the future, level Jewelcrafting yourself and start with Epic accessories. Never leave gathering to a bot.
